Donald Edward Hastings May 30, 1930 March 30, 2013 Donald E. "PaPa" Hastings of Chalk Bluff passed away peacefully at his home early on Saturday, March 30, 2013, with his family by his side, after being diagnosed with a very aggressive form of Acute Myeloid Leukemia two weeks ago. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, at Rosemound Cemetery, with Dr. John Collier and Brother Joey Crenshaw officiating. Visitation with the family will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 1, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Donald was born May 30, 1930, to Vivian and L. G. Hastings in South Bosque. He attended South Bosque Schools and joined the U. S. Army on November 8, 1948. He proudly served his country in Korea. He married the love of his life, Betty Lou Dosher on April 27, 1956. They had two children, Gregory Alan and Donna Lu. Donald spent the majority of his career in the trucking industry as a truck driver, traveling all over North America. He retired from his position as Lead Dispatcher for Carroll-Fullmer, Inc. in 1996. Donald "PaPa"'s greatest joys were his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He and Betty tried to attend every ballgame, birthday, school event and celebration until it became too difficult to travel. He enjoyed watching his Texas Rangers and Baylor Lady Bears Basketball. He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant sister, Peggy Lynn. He is survived by his wife of almost 57 years, Betty; son, Gregory and wife, Cindy, of Keller, TX; daughter, Donna Parker and husband, Boyd, of Waco; grandchildren, Amy Wilson and husband, Derek, of Decatur, TX, Jeffrey Hastings and fiance, Donna, of Flower Mound, TX, Reylan Will and husband, Michael, of Waco, Kimberly Garcia and husband, Carlos, of Saginaw, TX, and Holly Parker of Philadelphia, PA; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Jacob, Luke and Delaney Wilson, Kylie Brown, Mason and Bowan Will, Caiden and Christian Garcia; sister, Joyce Kubal and George; sister-in-law, Sue Anderson; brothers-in-law, John Dosher and wife, Lorraine, and Bill Dosher and wife, Doris. Donald is also survived by a host of friends, neighbors and relatives, and his beloved dog, Maggie. Pallbearers will be Derek Wilson, Jeffrey Hastings, Michael Will, Carlos Garcia, John Dosher, Bill Dosher and Bob Bray.
