Dora Lynn Jackson September 28, 1938 July 20, 2011 Dora Lynn "Dodie" Jackson, beloved wife of Richard "Dick" Jackson, was taken to her eternal home on July 20, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 23, at First Baptist Church, Waco, and immediately afterwards for graveside at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening 6-8 p.m. at the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Though Dodie had recently been cured of leukemia and was able to enjoy several cancer-free months with her family, her passing ultimately followed as a result of complications in the long-term recovery and rebuilding process. Dodie was a proud alumna of Baylor University, and was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Waco, where she previously served as the Preschool Minister, as well as in several other positions. Dodie was an employee of Baylor University, where she served on staff in the Religion Department. She was a founding member of the administration for the George W. Truett Theological Seminary, and she served as the Assistant Director of the Baylor University Center for Ministry Effectiveness. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Dan and Eddie Lee Smith; sister, Dorothy June Smith; brother-in-law, Ed McGlasson; father- and mother-in-law, Howard R. and Lola Mae Jackson; and sister- and brother-in-law Eddie Person and Bonnie Jackson Person. In addition to her husband, Dodie is survived by her son, Howard, along with his wife, Nicole and their children Lauren, Melody, Ashley, Olivia, Kaira, and Jonah; her son, Danny, along with his wife, Suzanne; her son, Harold, along with his wife, Lorissa and their children Emily and Paul; her sister, Virginia Crawford along with husband, Gene; her sister, Lois McGlasson; her sister-in-law, Ann Jackson Bachman; and a host of dearly loved nieces, nephews and other family members. The family has designated the First Baptist Church of Waco Foundation or the George W. Truett Theological Seminary as recipients for those who would like to send a gift in lieu of flowers. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our "Memorial Guestbook" at www.WilkirsonHatchBailey.com.
