Dorcas Bright September 23, 1921 - February 28, 2008 Dorcas Bright of Waco passed away Thursday, February 28, 2008 at Providence Hospital. The Celebration of Life service will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2008 at Highland Baptist Church with Rev. Barry Camp officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, March 2 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. There will be a private burial. Dorcas was born September 23, 1921 in Brenham, Texas to Ernest and Winnie Rogers. She grew up in Brenham and graduated from Blinn Junior College; then graduated from Baylor University with a BA and MS degrees. She and Robert Earle Bob Bright were married on January 28, 1945. Dorcas taught in public schools and retired with 26 years of service with the Waco Independent School District in 1979. In later years she was a receptionist for Matula Photography; taught Sunday school for 19 years and was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Waco. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma; taught as visiting lecturer at Baylor in the Library Science Department and sang in her church choirs. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bob Bright of Waco; sons, David Lee Bright and wife, Eileen from Harrisburg, NC and Stephen Earl Bright and wife, Kathy of Rockdale, TX.; three granddaughters, Sarah Bright and husband, Christopher Patterson; Rebecca Kay Bright; and Angela Popernack and husband, Paul; two great-grandchildren, Jonathan Bright and Devon Bright-Patterson.
