Doris Ann Stanford May 4, 1947 - June 6, 2014 Doris Ann Stanford of Lorena passed away Friday, June 6, 2014, at Westview Manor. Services will be 4:00 p.m., Monday, June 9, at Lorena United Methodist Church with Rev. Jon Farrer officiating. Burial will follow at Lorena Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 8, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Doris was born May 4, 1947, to Tom and Nonnie Stanford. She graduated from Lorena High School in 1965. She was in the band, playing tenor saxophone for the first sweepstakes winning award of school history. She graduated from The University of Texas with a BA in Music. She taught in Brownsville ISD for 15 years. She taught middle school choir, beginning band, a complete range of students and accompanied school, children and church choirs. Doris Ann moved back to Lorena in 1989 to help take care of her parents, and she also taught middle school choir at Connally ISD for 15 years. Doris Ann was very involed in her community. She was a member of Lorena #1124 Order of the Eastern Star, Lorena Woman Club, Lorena Cemetery Association, Waco Euterpean Club and Texas Federation of Music Clubs. Doris Ann was choir director and lifetime member of the Lorena United Methodist Church. She served the church she loved in so many ways. The Emmaus Walks were special to her, and she sponsored several church members. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her many friends. Doris Ann's extended family would like to send a special thanks to Scott & White Hospice, Rachel Barber and Onita; Visiting Angels and Cyndi.
