Doris Ellen Williams June 5, 1909 - August 2, 2006 Doris Ellen Williams of McGregor formerly of Donna, TX, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at Westview Manor. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 5, at Lorena Cemetery with Rev. Danny Niedecken and Rev. Linda Mitchell officiating. Doris was born June 5, 1909 in Lorena, TX to M. L. Luke Williams and Carrie Woodie Brown Williams. She was a member of Lorena United Methodist Church. Miss Williams graduated from Lorena High School and Baylor University. After teaching school for a few years, she began her career in social work. Years later she continued her education to achieve administrative certification at Worden School of Social Work at Our Lady of the Lake College in San Antonio. She retired as Supervisor of Child Welfare in Hidalgo County. Doris was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Nonie Stanford. She is survived by her niece, Doris Ann Stanford of Lorena and several cousins. The family expresses their sincere thanks to the staff of Westview Manor and to Providence Hospice.
