Doris Lucille Legan

LEGAN, DORIS L. Doris L. Legan, age 86 of Waco passed away Sunday, February 23, 2003 at a local nursing facility. Graveside services will be held 2:00p.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2003 at Waco Memorial North with the Rev. Lynn Willhite officiating. Visitation with the family will be 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 24, 2003 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Doris was born December 8, 1916 in Hillsboro to the late Cliff and Ora Rogers Britton. She was a graduate of the Baylor School of Nursing in Dallas in 1938. She worked in the Dallas area for a couple of years until the outbreak of WWII when she joined the US Army with a commission of 1st Lt. in the Nursing Corp. While in the military she met and later married, Frank C. Legan on June 5, 1943 in Dallas. Frank preceded her in death August 3, 1982. They moved out to west Texas in 1955 where she worked as Nursing Supervisor in the Hamlin Memorial Hospital for many years until her retirement in 1978 and moved to Waco in 1980. Survivors include daughter, Linda Legan of Waco; son, Jerry Legan and wife Pam of Stephenville; grandchildren, Andrew, James and Marisa; and four great-grandchildren.
