Doris Prickette

April 4, 1918 — August 15, 2003

DORIS PRICKETTE Doris Prickette, age 85 of Waco passed away Friday, August 15, 2003 at her residence. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with Dr. Scott Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17 at the funeral home. Doris was born on April 4, 1918 in Waco to Charles Henry Foster and Jeanette Martin Foster, the youngest of seven children. She married Eugene Charles Prickette in 1937 and lived in Waco all of her life, residing in her present home since 1952. She was employed by Goldstein-Migel from 1936 to 1940 and by the Waco Independent School District in Child Accounting from 1960 to 1973. Doris was a dearly beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Gene Prickette, on June 7, 2003. Also preceding her in death were her four sisters and two brothers. Doris was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waco from birth until present. At First Baptist, she was a Sunday school teacher, sponsor of College Training Union and Television Ministry, and member of the Magic Club, Upper Class Seniors and Bethany Sunday School Class. Doris was active in a number of clubs, including Bluebonnet Garden Club; member and President, Texas A& M Mother’s Club of McLennan County; member and officer, Phi Sigma Alpha Service Club from 1974 to 1998; member, Wives of the Kiwanis Club and a George Hixson Fellow of Kiwanis; Hamilton House; member, Fonce Club; and member, Knife and Fork Club. Survivors include her son, John F. Prickette and wife Linda of Dallas; daughter, Dr. Janice Prickette Carson of Cedar Hill; grandsons, John F. Prickette Jr. of Sulphur Springs, Robert M. Tres Bagley Jr. of Dallas and Jason C. Bagley of Euless; granddaughter, Paige Prickette Aran and husband Jace and great grandson, Holden Lee Aran; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be John Prickette Jr., Tres Bagley, Jason Bagley, Jace Aran, Andy Harwell and Fred Logan. Doris will be remembered by her family for her tenderness and sense of humor, even in her later years when Alzheimer’s was diagnosed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hillcrest Hospice, 3000 Herring,Waco, Texas 76708.
