Doris Rae Underhill September 10, 1924 - August 26, 2009 Doris Rae Underhill of Waco went to be with her Lord Wednesday, August 26, 2009. Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 29, at Waco Memorial Park with Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, August 28, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Doris was born September 10, 1924, in Axtell, Texas, the second child of Louie Beard, Sr. and Bessie Pollock Beard. Doris was saved and baptized at the age of eight while attending the Concord Baptist Church. Her life became centered around the church and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The family later moved to a farm in Penelope, TX where Doris attended the Penelope Schools, graduating from Penelope High School in 1941. Doris married Glenn Underhill, also from Penelope, on February 21, 1942, and they moved to Waco to make their home and raise their two daughters. Doris became the church secretary for Beverly Hills Baptist Church, serving in that position for 20 years. She also taught children in Sunday School at Beverly Hills and later at Western Heights Baptist Church. She enjoyed piecing quilts, sewing, playing '42', and working in her yard and flower gardens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn H. Underhill; parents; brothers, Louie Beard, Jr., and Bobby Gene Beard; sister, Helen Moody; and son-in-law, Mike Fisher. Doris is survived by her daughters, Linda Richardson and husband, George, of Waco; Sharon Fisher of Whitney; grandchildren, David Richardson and wife, Angela, of Temple; Daryl Richardson of San Antonio; Brian Fisher and wife, Jennifer, of Grand Prairie, and Karen Keith and husband, Erik of Roanoke. "Nana" will also be missed by her great-grandchildren, Brayden, Bryce, Braxton, Brynlee Richardson and Ross Fisher. Doris is continuing her journey of eternal life safe in the arms of Jesus.
