Doris Watters Wood March 24, 1916 May 25, 2013 Doris Watters Wood died Saturday, May 25, 2013. Funeral services will be private. Mrs. Wood was born on March 24, 1916, the child of Ernest L. and Willie Warren Watters of Belton, Texas. Her father worked in the Bell County Treasurer's Office and later at the Federal Land Bank. Her maternal uncle, A. E. Son Warren was, for many years, Bell County Tax Assessor-Collector. She attended Belton public schools and studied music at Mary Hardin-Baylor College until her marriage to J. Carroll Wood of Waco in 1935. Mr. and Mrs. Wood made their home and reared their children in Waco where Mr. Wood was a prominent apparel manufacturer until his retirement in 1982. Doris Wood was an active volunteer for the Republican Party for many years and a contributor to numerous local charities. Mrs. Wood was predeceased by her husband and one grandson. She is survived by her six children, Jean Wood of Chapala, Mexico, Joe Wood and wife, Paula, of Salado, Texas, Judy Wood of Waco, Joy Wood of Dallas, Texas, Jane Wood of Wichita, Kansas, and Jeri Wood and husband, Jacques Cloutier, of Santa Fe, NM. Other survivors include seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. The family wishes to thank Yolanda Hubert of Hubert Services, Inc., and caregivers Dorothy Hamilton, Marion Loggins, Gloria Martinez, and Stella Cirilo for their many years of loving service.
