DOROTHY BOWEN CRABB February 25, 1919-October 19, 2005 Dorothy Bowen Crabb passed away on October 19, 2005 at Wesley Woods Alzheimer Care Center. Rosary will be at 6:00 PM, Thursday October 20th, followed by visitation at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Requiem Mass will be Friday, Oct. 21st at St. Louis Catholic Church at 10:00 AM with Msgr. Mark Deering officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Dorothy was born in Waco, Texas to Douglas and Dolly Brown. She was the oldest daughter in a family of nine children. In 1936, she graduated from Waco High School. She married Paul Bowen in 1939 and was a devoted wife and mother. Dorothy and Paul founded Bowen Electric in 1955. Along with her duties as housewife and business partner, she was an active volunteer at Providence Hospital and was a longtime member and past president of Waco Catholic Study Club. She participated in Duplicate Bridge Tournaments and at the age of fifty, became an avid golfer. Following Paul’s death in 1973, she married Carroll Crabb in 1977. Carroll preceded her in death in 1993. She is survived by three daughters: Peggy Barfield and husband, Harlin, Patty Field and husband, Willie and Carol Teakell Kelkner and husband, Jeff; sons, Jim Bowen and wife, Glenda and Stephen Crabb and wife, Linda; 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings include her sisters, Barbara Hitt and Jerry Thompson and brothers, Bland Brown and Bill Brown. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Keith Barfield, Rusty Barfield, Neal Barfield, Willie Field Jr., Wesley Field, Paul Field, Wade Bowen and Dylan Teakell. Honorary Pallbearers are granddaughters: Paula Barfield-Unger, Renee Martinez, Nicky Gutierrez-Field, Tracey Upchurch, Cami Bajer, Jill Bowen and Jenna Teakell.
