Dorothy Jane Collier Oleksiak,93, of Waco, went to her heavenly home Tuesday, September 6, 2022.
Dorothy was born in Waco on May 1, 1929, to Aubrey Wayne and Ollie Mae Martin Collier. She graduated from Waco High School in 1946, and married Arthur Oleksiak on June 8, 1946, at St. Mary’s Church of the Assumption in Waco. They moved to the Detroit, Michigan, area and raised a family before retiring to Waco in 1981.
Dorothy loved the outdoors, especially gardening, fishing, and bird watching. She was active in sports most of her life, enjoying tennis, skiing, horseback riding, and golf. Dorothy was an avid reader and had a love for continually learning something new. She earned a business degree and enjoyed working in real estate. She was a kind and generous person who always looked for ways to help her friends and family.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Oleksiak; parents, Aubrey and Ollie Collier; brothers, Aubrey, Alex and Roy Collier; and sister, Audrey Kaye Collier.
Survivors include her children, Dennis Oleksiak (Vickie), of St. Clair, Michigan, Vivian Moses, of Jacksonville, Florida, and Michelle Mang, of Port Huron, Michigan; brother, Palmer Collier (Sue), of Waco; sister-in-law, Lolita Collier, of Waco; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will take place at 9:00 a.m. Monday, September 12, at St. Mary’s Church of the Assumption, Waco, followed by Church Services at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park.
