Dorothy Lee Turner Green October 4, 1923 – June 12, 2006 Dorothy Lee Turner Green, beloved mother, grandmother and faithful servant of the Lord, departed this earthly life on Monday, 12 June 2006, with her daughters Carolyn Green of Olney and Phyllis Leath of Longview by her side. Funeral services for will be Saturday, 17 June, at 1:00 p.m. at Zion United Church, 6347 IH 35 South with Reverend Curtis Holland officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, 16 June. Dorothy was born 4 October 1923 in Waco, only child of Thomas Furlough and Else Kroll Turner. A lifelong resident of Waco, Dorothy graduated from Waco High School in 1941. She married Orville Ray Green on 6 August 1943. Together they traveled, camped and fished enthusiastically. At Zion United Church Dorothy worshiped, served many years as president of the Women’s Guild morning circle and taught Sunday school. Dorothy’s first priority was her family. She was a homemaker, a nurse, a Girl Scout leader and an active PTA member. Mrs. Green is preceded in death by her only love, Ray Green and her parents, Else and Furlough Turner. In addition to her daughters, she is survived by her granddaughter and family: Rebecca, Tommy, Lauren and Lindsey Rowe, Amie, Mike and Race Marcy of Saginaw; her grandsons and families: Gordon, Kristofor and Kayla Vogel of Groesbeck; Thomas, Brooke and Charles Leath of High Point, NC; Edward and Angie Leath of Irving; Peter, Katherine, Austin and Noah Leath of Keller; and Stephen, Shanon, Payton Lee and Brooke Marie Leath of Longview. Dorothy is also survived by Jean and Jack Edwards of McAllen and Vernon and Evelyn Green of McAlester, OK. Family friends include Harvey and Patricia Vogel of Groesbeck, Michael Leath of Longview and Jim Sorley of Groesbeck. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to Zion United Church or a charity of choice. The family expresses gratitude for the compassionate, gentle care of the staffs at Pine Tree Lodge Nursing Center and Greater Hospice of Texas in Longview.
