Dorothy Mae Garrett February 22, 1928 – May 25, 2007 Dorothy Mae Garrett, 79, died peacefully with her daughter and her family by her side on Friday, May 25, 2007 after a brief illness. Services will be held at 1:30 P.M., Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey chapel with Rev. John Carroll officiating. Burial will follow at Patrick Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 29 in the Garden Room at the funeral home. Dorothy “Dot” was born February 22, 1928 in Rock Creek, Texas to Lillie and Burt Hixson to a family of four sisters and four brothers. She lived most of her life in Rock Creek as a wife, homemaker and a wonderful mother, grandmother and a Christian lady. Dot met and married Thomas Weldon Garrett, November 21, 1947 and had one daughter, Linda, who married Ronald Hubbard in 1968. A grandson, Ronald Lane Hubbard was later born in 1971. Dot was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Weldon, grandson, Ron Hubbard of Patrick; sisters, Marie Hixson, Annabell Turk of Waco, Lillian Anderson of Bellmead, Margaret Goains of Meridian; brothers, B.W. Hixson of Indiana, Edward Hixson of McGregor. Survivors include daughter, Linda Hubbard and husband, Ronald of Rock Creek; brothers, Louis Hixson of Dawson, Texas, Frank Hixson of Waco and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Frank Turk, Jr., Ronnie Turk, Michael Anderson, Larry Goains, David Hixson and Bo Blair.
