Dorothy Marie Carpenter

CARPENTER, DOROTHY MARIE Dorothy Marie Carpenter, age 72 of Waco died Thursday, January 29, 2004 at a local hospital. Services will be held at 2pm Monday, February 2 at Western Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Michael O. Patterson and Chaplain Curtis Holland officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Visitation will be from 3-5pm Sunday, February 1 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Mrs. Carpenter was born October 4, 1931 in Mathis, Texas to D. J. and Anna Ruth Miracle. She was a graduate of LaVega High School class of 1949; she attended 4-C Business College. She married Cecil Carpenter November 16, 1950 in Waco. She worked for Morris Jewelers. She later, with Cecil, opened Carpenter Service Center where she worked as secretary. She loved to play bridge and was active in several groups. She was a longtime member of Western Heights Baptist Church where she was active in the senior adult choir and president of her Sunday school class. Dorothy had a loving heart and cared deeply for her family and friends. Survivors include husband, Cecil Carpenter of Waco; sons, Jerry Carpenter and wife, Nancy of Robinson and Tim Carpenter and wife, Janet of Hewitt; grandchildren, Scott Bryant and wife, Jill, Susan Carpenter, and Andrew Carpenter; nephews, Larry Stephens and Danny Stephens and numerous family and friends. Pallbearers will be Jerry Carpenter, Tim Carpenter, Scott Bryant, Andrew Carpenter, Larry Stephens, and Tom Beard.
