Dorothy Rae Hahn Railsback August 19, 1928 - April 29, 2015 Dorothy Rae Railsback of Waco passed away this last Wednesday, April 29, 2015, in Waco, Texas, at the age of 86. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Ken James officiating. She will be in state Monday, May 4, at McCoy Funeral Home in Aspermont and the burial will be 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 5, at Aspermont Cemetery, with Rev. Erik Langford officiating. Dorothy was born August 19, 1928, in Aspermont, Texas. Her parents were Vera Featherston Hahn and Ray Herbert Hahn. Her Grandparents were Sara Etta Boyd Featherston, Winfield Scott Featherston, Mary Moore Hahn and Henry Hahn. She married Dr. G. Dewey Railsback, Jr. Dorothy was known to many of her friends and acquaintances as Dotty. She was Valedictorian of her high school graduating class in Aspermont. Dotty was an exceptional athlete who won several tennis and golf tournaments throughout her lifetime. She was a passionate musician, who sang and played piano, organ and saxophone when she was younger. She attended the University of Texas at Austin and Hardin-Simmons University receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree & Masters Degree in Education. After College she taught school for twelve years in Abilene, Texas and Irving, Texas. An active community volunteer, Dotty was a member of and did volunteer work for many clubs and organizations. Some of the clubs and organizations she contributed time and energy to include; the McLennan County Medical Alliance, Texas State Teachers Association, National Teachers Association, Waco Women's Symphony Association, Civic Theatre, Philo Club, Beta Sigma Phi, Waco Tennis Association, Ridgewood Women's Golf Association, Lake Waco Women's Golf Association, T-Bar-M Racquet Club, Ridgewood Women's Tennis Association, Gardner's Garden Club and Hardin Simmons University Cowgirl Band. She was on the Board of Directors of Philo Club, T-Bar-M Racket Club and Waco Tennis Association. Dorothy and Dewey moved to Waco from Irving, Texas, in 1962, where Dewey continued his medical practice until his death on November 14, 2006. Dotty and Dewey shared a mutual love for cooking, music, literature, theatre, the outdoors, and traveling in the states and abroad, as well as playing bridge, tennis and golf. They leave behind many beloved friends, neighbors, relatives and patients whom they cherished. Even after Dewey's death, Dotty continued active involvement in local bridge clubs with many of her close friends. She maintained a great fondness for her tennis, golf and bridge friends until the very end and continued to cherish and rekindle many of the relationships she had made in high school, college, teaching and here in Waco. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. G. Dewey Railsback, Jr., and her two sisters, Vera Hahn Snailum of Abilene and Etta Fae Hahn Maberry of Hamlin, Texas. She is survived by her son, Michael Ray Railsback, daughter-in-law, Teresa Engler Railsback and stepson, George D. Railsback, III.
