Dorothy Van Arman

August 22, 1920 — August 5, 2021

Dorothy Van Arman left us on August 5, 2021. She lived to be 100 years old and that still wasn’t long enough for us. We are going to miss the love in her big blue eyes and the sweet smile on her face. Services will be 10:00 am, Friday, August 13, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, with Rev. Tim Jarrell officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 – 8:00 pm, Thursday, August 12, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. She was born in Fort Worth, Texas, to Albert Lee Bills and his wife, Eula Mae Ralston Bills. She and her little sister, Betty Jo Bills Albright grew up in their beloved Fort Worth and attended local schools there. She was in the first graduating class of Arlington Heights High School and was a proud lifelong Yellow Jacket. She met and married our dad, A. J. Van Arman Jr. in Ft. Worth, and they were happily married for 62 years until his death in 2005. Both our parents were loving, kind and VERY FUNNY! We can’t count the number of times she laughed until she cried! We were surrounded by love, laughter, practical jokes and important life lessons. Mom was a good friend to anyone she met. She was a faithful member of Cogdell Memorial United Methodist Church and she loved her many friends there. Mom enjoyed volunteering as a Pink Lady at Providence Hospital for several years. In addition, she ran the ‘blasted’ billing machine at their business, Van Outdoor Advertising Company. Mom was involved in our school activities. She made our clothes, doctored our wounds, fed us and held our hands. We are really going to miss her. In our eyes, she was perfect and we were very blessed. They are survived by three girls, Betty G. Allen, Linda D. Platt, and Ann V. Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, A. J. Van Arman Jr; her sister, Betty Jo Bills Albright and husband O.P. (Al) Albright Jr.; her sister-in-law, Ruth G. DeWitt and husband, Leo M. DeWitt; and grandson, Jackie L. Davis. She cherished her three daughters and their husbands, six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. And to her earth angels Beth, Carol, Debby, Debra, Gayle and Gwen, you have our undying love and gratitude. Thank you for treating Mom like she was your very own. Fly high, Small Fry! Honorary Pallbearers will be Lance Platt, Rusty Platt, Eric Platt, Rick Morgan, Michael Jorgenson, and Jason McDaniels. The family invites you to share a message or a memory on our “Tribute Wall” at www.WHBfamily.com.
