Dr. Daniel James Harmon (Dan), the beloved husband of Joan Marcella Harmon and father to Catherine Anne Baldwin and Michael James Harmon, died May 31, 2016 at the age of 64. Dan passed away peacefully, with family by his side, after a two year battle with brain cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 4, at St. Louis Catholic Church with The Most Reverend Curtis J. Guillory, Diocese of Beaumont, as Celebrant. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:00 and Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 3, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Dan was born in Whittier, CA to Anne and James Harmon. He attended Bradley University for his undergraduate degree and Creighton University for medical school, followed by an Internal Medicine Residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Dan was always a compassionate and giving person and worked as an Internist in private practice in Beaumont, TX for the majority of his career. Dan and Joan spent the last 7 years in Waco, where he provided medical care to patients at the VA. Dan is remembered for living a life of great purpose, as a loyal and loving family man, a devout Catholic, and a dedicated doctor. He had a passion for the outdoors, especially bird watching, and a great sense of humor. Nothing made him happier than being a silly grandfather to his grandchildren. Dan was preceded in death by his mother, Anne Wilks Harmon. Dan is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Joan; son, Michael Harmon of Austin; daughter, Catherine Baldwin and husband, Travis, of Dallas; and grandchildren, Hailey, Claire and Gaines Baldwin. He is also survived by his father, James Harmon, of Kent, WA; sister, Suzanne Harmon, of Seattle, WA; brother, Scott Harmon, of Kenmore, WA; brother, Kelly Harmon, of Parma, ID; and brother, Monty Harmon, of Olympia, WA. Pallbearers are Dr. Michael Harmon, Kelly Harmon, Monty Harmon, Scott Harmon, Ron Tremper and Travis Baldwin. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. George Morrison, Stephen Rothrock, Dr. Edward Neusel, Dr. Paul Shaw and Dr. Paul Snyder.
