Dr. Frank Joseph Kudlaty

Frank Joseph Kudlaty, PhD September 29, 1927 - September 12, 2012 Dr. Frank Joseph Kudlaty of Waco passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at Providence Hospital. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 15, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Leslie King officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, September 14, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Frank was born September 29, 1927, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Frank and Catherine Kudlaty. He earned his BA degree from TCU on a basketball scholarship. He earned a Masters of Education from TCU, a Doctorate in Education from NTSU and was a Doctoral Fellow at Yale. The majority of his career as an educator was in Ft. Worth and Waco, retiring as Superintendent of Waco ISD in 1986. He was a 15 year volunteer with Meals on Wheels and was a docent at the Cameron Park Zoo. He served on the Salvation Army board for 27 years. Frank was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Waco. Frank enjoyed travel and photography and TCU athletics. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Kathryn Kudlaty Johnson; brother, Jack Kudlaty; his wife, Marlene Marek Kudlaty. He is survived by his son, Scott Kudlaty and wife, Carol, of Arlington, TX; grandchildren, Kathryn, Stephen and Nathan Kudlaty; step-daughter, Dicque New and husband, Mark, and their children, Jason New and wife, Julie, Casey New and wife, Sara, Katie Klumpp and husband, David and Mark Alan New; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Earl and Kay Houser; and niece and nephews. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Cameron Park Zoo, Meals on Wheels, The Salvation Army or Texas Christian University.
