Nick Manitzas, M.D. August 5, 1962 - May 1, 2015 Dr. Nick Manitzas of Crawford passed away Friday, May 1, 2015, at Baylor Scott & White Health Hillcrest Medical Center. Services will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, May 8, at First Baptist Church of Waco with the Father John Ballard officiating. Burial will follow at Stanford Chapel. The Trisagion Service will begin at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, May 7, and visitation will follow at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Nick was born August 5, 1962, in Dallas, Texas, to Demetrios and Constance Manitzas, a grandson of Greek emigrants, Nick and Sofia Manitzas and Louis and Mary Botsios. He was a graduate of Berkner High School in Richardson, Texas, and continued his education at Stephen F.Austin State University, research at U.T. Southwestern in Dallas and then medical school at Texas Tech University. His residency was at the University of Tennessee. Nick and Donna Gaston were married on November 30, 1985. He has practiced at Hillcrest Hospital since 2001, now Baylor Scott & White Health Hillcrest Medical Center. Nick was a member of St. Andrew Orthodox Church and a member of the parish council. Nick was passionate about his faith, family, friends and his work. He was an avid gun enthusiast who loved sharing his hobby with family and friends, always helpful and encouraging and always focused on safety. Nick loved discussing currents events and history, while also being a modern-day Renaissance man. If you ever needed an understanding ear, he was there. Nick was the one you wanted with you in an emergency, a force of nature with a calming presence. There are no words that can truly express the depth that he will be missed. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Don Gaston. He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Gaston Manitzas of Crawford; children, Alexis Rodriguez and husband, David, of Brenham, Texas, Sarah Manitzas, and Paul Nick Manitzas; granddaughter, Reagan Rodriguez; his father, Demetrios Manitzas and wife, Jonnie, of Little Rock, Arkansas; his mother, Constance Botsios Manitzas of Dallas; sister, Sophia Schutte and Fr. Dennis; brother, Louis Manitzas; sister-in-law, Sandra Manitzas; mother-in-law, Bobbie Gaston of Chilton, Texas; sister-in-law; Teri Gaston, brother-in-law, Gary Gaston and wife, Robin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Paul Manitzas, Louis Manitzas, Gary Gaston, David Schutte, Matthew Schutte, Nicholas Schutte, Alexander Schutte, Luke Manitzas, Louis Workman, Steven Workman, Ryan Workman, Cody Workman, Nicholas Workman, Darren Gaston, David Rodriguez, Michael Clifton, Samer Khoury, Don Cox, E.T.
