LITTLE, DR. ROBERT W. Dr. Robert W. Little, a retired local dentist, peacefully passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2002. He was 81 years old. Services will be held at 11:30AM Saturday, January 26 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with Rev. Stephen Ramsdell officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held 6:00-7:00PM Friday, January 25 at the funeral home. Dr. Little Bob began his life on March 19, 1920 in Blacksburg, South Carolina. He was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he was a star track athlete. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University in 1942. While at LSU, he met and married the mother of his three children, Theda Inez Childress. He was married to her for over 55 years and she preceded him in death in 1997. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps, flying P-47’s in the Pacific theater. Following the war, he attended the University of Texas Dental School and graduated with a D.D.S. in May of 1950. Dr. Little served in the Army Dental Corps at Brook General Hospital from 1950-51, then served in Germany from 1951-1954. Thereafter, he and his family moved to Waco, where he began his private dental practice. He was a member of the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association and the Central Texas District Dental Society, where he held all the executive offices including President. He was a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, Honorary Dental Society, a fellow in the American College of Dentistry, and also a fellow in the International College of Dentists. Dr. Little was a long time member of the Waco Rotary Club. He was a member of the Waco Airport Advisory Board and also a private pilot for many years. Dr. Little is survived by his wife, Deanne Gottlieb Little of three and a half years, sons, Robert Little, Jr. of Salado and Dr. Steven L. Little of Waco, daughter, Martha Brock of Sugar Land, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Dr. Bill Coker, Dr. Jim Moritz, Andy Brister, Dr. Mark Wingate, Joe Stephenson, Dr. Rufus Spain, Tommy McWilliams, and Dr. J.C. Frasier. Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Frank Wilson Sunday School Class of Columbus Ave. Baptist Church, the BMW Club and his many friends. Memorials can be made to American Heart Association or American Red Cross. WILKIRSON-HATCH-BAILEY
