Durine Stepp Otwell

Durine, age 90, passed away August 15, 2017, at Wesley Woods Care Center. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 18, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home with Charlie Dodd of First Baptist Woodway, Senior Ministry officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 17, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Durine was born in Penelope, Texas, September 11, 1926, to Will C. and Ora Mae Stepp. They moved to Birome when she was in 3rd grade. Growing up she helped her father around the farm. She moved to Waco in 1942 with two of her sisters to work at Woods Mfg, sewing. After World War II, she met the love of her life, Raymond M. Otwell. They married in May 1946. Later, she worked at Rich Knit, sewing until the factory closed its doors. She then joined the family business, Otwell Machine & Tool Inc. She enjoyed traveling, listening to country music, attending church events and watching sports. She loved being with her family and friends. She was a member of First Baptist Woodway. Durine is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her daughter, Shirley Fulp, and son-in-law, Monty Sr.; sisters, Opal Hill, Louise Miller, Geraldine Lowe, three brothers, and several nephews. Survivors include her sister, Ouida Mae Bradshaw of Longview; granddaughter, Sherri Carnes and husband, Thomas, of Speegleville; grandson, Monty Fulp, Jr., and wife, Shelly, of Crawford; great grandchildren, Courtney Whitehouse, Beau Carnes, Kristi Fulp and Monty Ray Fulp; along with several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Thomas Carnes, Monty Fulp, Jr., Dennis LeBeouf, Donnie Otwell, Dale Whitehouse and Derrick Wiggam. We would also like to say a special thank you to Wesley Woods for the love and care they provided to her. Also to Providence Hospice for their care.
