Dwight Wayne Clayton U.S. Army Major Ret. April 15, 1939 - January 5, 2006 Dwight Wayne Clayton, devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2006 at Providence Hospital in Waco, TX. There will not be a viewing, however; services will be held at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, Bosque Chapel, at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, January 10, 2006. Graveside services will immediately follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco. Dwight was born in Dumas, Arkansas on April 15, 1939, to Verna Mae Poplin and Woodrow Clayton. Dwight proudly served in the U.S. Army for 23 years and was a highly decorated Vietnam Veteran. Dwight was also a Mason. Brother Dwight belonged to Mispah Lodge, South St. Paul, Minnesota for 25 years, and also a member of the Scottish Right and Shriners. Dwight owned and operated Clayton Automotive in China Spring, TX. with his son Dwight Steve Clayton after retiring from Mobil Chemical in 1993. He is survived by his wife of 41 years Mary Gidget Clayton of Waco, TX, sons Steve Clayton, Rodney and wife Jennifer, daughter Twyla and husband Nabil Diab as well as grandchildren Christin, Stephen, Tyler, Courtney, Shelby, Colin and Elizabeth. He is also survived by his sisters Mary Sis Vaness, Jeanie Pennington, Glenda McEwen, Judy Smith, Jane Donley, Peggy Chapman, and brother Charlie Bo Clayton all of Arkansas.
