Edgar Hensel September 8, 1925 - April 18, 2012 Edgar Hensel of Waco passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at Providence Hospital. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 20, at First Evangelical Church with Bro. Richard Rust officiating. Burial will follow at Closner Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 19, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Edgar was born September 8, 1925, in Barclay, Texas, to Charlie and Mary Hensel. He married Helen Roth on March 15, 1949, in Burlington, TX. They began their married life together in Waco. In his early years, Edgar was a WWII Veteran and was active in Lake Air Little League. He operated his own business in Waco for over 40 years. His craftsmanship and work ethics were held in high regard by all. Edgar was a long time member of First Evangelical where he served on Consistory and in multiple positions. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed, but is now receiving the reward for the faith he lived out before us all. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Mary Hensel; and his brother, Leonard Hensel. Edgar is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen Hensel; two children, Steve Hensel and wife, Brenda, of McGregor, and Gayla Sauls and husband, Gary, of Hewitt; four grandchildren, Holly Russell and husband, Cary, of Houston, Wesley Sauls of Hewitt, and Erik and Dillon Hensel of McGregor; one great grandchild, Lew Cameron Russell; and one sister, Iva Jean Tawater of Waco. Pallbearers are Erik Hensel, Dillon Hensel, Wesley Sauls, Cary Russell, Clay Roth and Chase Roth.
