Edgar Jablonowski

Edgar Bates Jablonowski February 13, 1920 July 30, 2012 Edgar Bates Jablonowski, a long time Waco resident, passed away Monday, July 30, 2012, at his home. A private burial will be held Thursday morning, August 2. A memorial service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Waco, with the Reverend Leslie King officiating. A reception in the Foundation Parlor will follow the service. Edgar Jablonowski, the son of Richard and Elizabeth Jablonowski, was born in 1920. He attended Waco schools and graduated from Baylor University in 1942. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served as an intelligence officer in the Pacific until 1946. He married Beth Johnson in 1945, and they moved to Lubbock where he worked for Crawford Austin. They returned to Waco and bought Lanes Interiors in 1956. Edgar and Beth took a small gift store and expanded it to include furniture, tabletop, lamps and interior design. Edgar loved interior design and the many friendships throughout his years at Lanes. Edgar also loved serving his community by serving on the board of Rotary as a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a former King of the Waco Cotton Palace, a lifetime member of the Baylor Alumni Foundation, the Waco Foundation, Keep Waco Beautiful, and on the board of the Franklin Lindsay Fund, providing scholarships to deserving Waco students. First Presbyterian Church of Waco held a special place in Edgar's heart, where seldom a Sunday passed without his presence. He is survived by his beloved wife, Beth Jablonowski; two daughters, Ann and Jerry Richerson, and Kay and Brent Standefer; grandchildren, Jana Bonifasi, David Richerson, Brent Standefer, Jr., and David Standefer; and three great-grandchildren.
