Edgar L. Harris November 17, 1922 - January 26, 2014 Edgar L. Harris of Waco, Texas, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Pastor Doug Shafer officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Edgar was born November 17, 1922 in Cameron, Texas to Homer and Minnie Harris, Jr. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He retired in January of 1988 after 38 years of service with the Waco Police Department. He was also a member of the First Assembly of God in Waco. He was preceded in death by one son, Trent Harris. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Johnnye Ruth Harris of Waco; two sons, Elwood Harris and wife, Ellen of Lewisville, Texas and David Harris and wife, Loucene of Waco; three daughters, Judy Tucker and husband, Howard of Waco; Jayna Hamons of Lorena; Janis Dick and husband, David of San Marcos, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and four sisters. Memorials may be made to First Asssembly of God of Waco or The American Asthma Foundation.
