Edith Margaret Cogdell

COGDELL, EDITH MARGARET Edith Margaret Cogdell, age 91, of Waco died Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at a local nursing home. Services will be held at 1:30PM Thursday, May 9 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with Rev. Marion Ford officiating. Burial will follow at Tehuacana Cemetery, Limestone County. Visitation with the family will be 6:00-7:30PM Wednesday, May 8 at the funeral home garden room. Mrs. Cogdell was born August 16, 1910 in Roane, Texas. She was reared and educated in Canton and graduated from Westminster College in Tehuacana. She had been a resident of the Waco area since 1968. She married Thomas Bishop Cogdell July 14, 1929. He preceded her in death October 4, 1967. She was a school teacher in Canton for a short time and also raised turkeys for Swift and Co. for several years. She was Postmistress in Tehuacana for about three years. She worked as a caseworker for Texas Department of Public Welfare in Mexia and Waco for 20 years, retiring in 1976. Mrs. Cogdell was a member of Timbercrest Baptist Church, where she was a nursery worker for 16 years. Survivors include daughter, Betty Webb Meadors and husband, Harold of Axtell; granddaughters, Becky Hollingsworth and husband, Tommy and Beverly Bridger; great grandchildren, Bradley Gordon and wife, Tracey, Kevin Hollingsworth and wife, Patty, Marc Gordon, Kris Hollingsworth and Malinda McLennan and husband, Derek; great great grandchildren, Colby Gordon, Rebecca Hollingsworth, Tori and Tyler Gordon, and Alexia and Landen McLennan; and one niece and one nephew. Pallbearers will be Bradley Gordon, Marc Gordon, Kevin Hollingsworth, Kris Hollingsorth, Joe Terral and Tommy Hollingsworth. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. WILKIRSON-HATCH-BAILEY
