Edithe J. Potter, Phd. February 29, 1928 - May 10, 2010 Dr. Edithe J. Potter of Hewitt passed away Monday, May 10, 2010. She was born February 29, 1928 in Treminis, France to Albert and Marie Jeanmonod. Dr. Potter was a professor of French in the Department of Modern Foreign Languages at Baylor from 1976 to 2001. She immigrated to the United States during the Second World War and received her B.A. from Oberlin College in Ohio. She went on to earn an M.A. in French from Middlebury College in Vermont and a Ph.D. in French from Rice University. During her many years as a member of the faculty at Baylor, Dr. Potter was thoroughly dedicated to her teaching. She enjoyed an excellent reputation in the classroom, was well respected by her peers, and served as a mentor to numerous students who remained in contact with her throughout their careers. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her dear friends and her many students and colleagues.
