Ed Aigner passed away July 2, 2017 at Baylor Scott & White Hospital. A visitation will be held Thursday, July 6, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. There will be a private family graveside service the following morning. Ed was born in Waco, Texas in the summer of 1923 to F.E. and Alma Marek Aigner. Having grown up in Waco, he left to serve his country as a member of the Air Force in World War II, returning afterward to attend Baylor University where he received a business degree. He married Cora Ann Wolaver in 1953 and had his only child, Alisa Ann Aigner, the following year. Working as a State Farm Agent for 37 years, Ed spent his free time traveling, reading and painting. Blessed with a knack for storytelling, he loved to share his favorite anecdotes, and those closest to him will no doubt smile as they repeat them for years to come. Generous in every sense of the word, Ed gave of himself to others constantly. Whether he was helping those in need or spending afternoons playing scripted Barbie sessions with his beloved granddaughter, there was seldom a time that he wasn’t thinking about others. This unconditional grace and love were the markers of his life and are what he will be remembered for by those so honored to have known him. He is survived by his daughter, Alisa, son-in-law, Gary; granddaughter, LeeAnn; cousin, Mary Hunter; and loving companion, Melrose Smith. Memorials may be made to Baylor Scott & White Hospice. The family invites you to leave a message or memory on our “Tribute Wall” at www.WHBfamily.com.
