Edna K. Bekkelund of Waco, Texas passed away Friday, April 22, 2016. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 25, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Edna was born February 24, 1929 in Ok, Oklahoma to J.D. and Zelie Kelly. She attended West Junior and Waco High School. On April 19, 1947, Edna married Erwin C. Bekkelund. Edna was a housewife and baker and especially enjoyed decorating cakes. She also enjoyed traveling with her family. She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Waco. She was a member of The VFW Post 8564 Ladies Auxiliary where she held office as a Senior Vice President, Junior Vice-President, and the Chairman of Voice of Democracy Competition. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years; oldest son, Gregory Jewel Bekkeland; oldest daughter, Brenda Beryl Keck; granddaughter, Gina Christine Bekkelund; sisters, Ollie Young, Addie Zinmer, and brother, Lloyd Kelly. She is survived by her daughter, Ava C. Pallister and husband, Thomas; son, Kevin R. Bekkelund and wife Susan; son Gilbert A. Bekkelund and wife, Virginia “Sue”; nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are grandsons and great grandsons.
