Farney, Edna Edna Pearl Blackburn Farney affectionately known as “Toodie” passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday, June 6 after a heroic two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. A celebration of Toodie’s life will be held on Thursday, June 9 at 11 a.m. at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home at 6101 Bosque Boulevard, with burial to follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with the Farney family will be held on Wednesday, June 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Toodie was the 12th of 13 children born to parents Prince and Bessie Blackburn on April 17, 1931 near Riesel, Texas. Toodie married Loyd Baldridge Farney on February 4, 1950 and they celebrated 55 years of marriage earlier this year. The couple later became a family with the births of their three children Doyle Wayne, Donna Sue and Paul David. Toodie worked as a proof operator at Fidelity Bank of Texas for over 22 years and retired in November 2003 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Golinda since 1960. She is survived by her husband, Loyd; children Doyle Wayne and Linda Farney of Golinda; Donna Sue and Eddy Rohan of Holland, Paul David Farney and Vernon Bob Brown of Waco; grandchildren Cristie Thigpen, Stacy Griffin, Shaylene and Lug Langlotz, Pamela Kay and Bill Harper, James Edward and Sammy Rohan; and great-grandchildren Tyler Thigpen, Landon East, Daniel East and David Loyd Harper. Toodie is also survived by her sisters Nina Ferguson, Donna McCahon, Jewel Copeland, Mary Fore; sisters-in-law Kathryn Radle, Lois Blackburn and Estelle Blackburn, in addition to many much-loved nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren will lead her casket to its final resting place. Honorary pallbearers are Deacons of the First Baptist Church of Golinda in addition to Bob McCahan, Fred “Mac” McCahan, Larry Cowan, Jim Butler, Doug Jones, Eugene Kroll, John Gilmore, Darden Farney, Bobby Farney, George Buster Farney and Roy Hyde. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Hospice or First Baptist Church of Golinda.
