Edna Sue Elick Newsom April 26, 1943 – October 16, 2007 Edna Sue Newsom went to be with her Heavenly Father on October 16, 2007. Graveside services with Rev. Micheal Moore officiating will be held 9:30 a.m., Friday, October 19, 2007, at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, October 18, 2007, 5:00-7:00 p.m., in the Garden Room at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Bosque Funeral Home. Born Edna Sue Sandifer in Mexia, Texas, to Luther and Lennie Sandifer, she was raised primarily in Robinson, graduating from Lorena High School in 1961. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Robinson. Sue married George Elick in 1966 and was a loving wife until his death. She married Ray Newsom in August 1990 and was devoted to him through the remainder of her life. She loved being with her family, reading and traveling especially cruises. She is survived by her loving husband Ray; two daughters, Lori Ellis, husband Mike, and son Shane of Robinson; Lisa Russell and husband Robert of Dickinson, Texas; a sister and dearest friend, Ruth McKethan and husband Jerry of Robinson; Ray’s sons, Neil Newsom, wife Sandy, and family of Midland, Texas; and Len Newsom, wife Sara and family of Austin. Sue expressed over the years that in lieu of flowers, if someone wanted to do something in her memory, to please remember her beloved church, First Baptist Church, 104 South McLendon Dr., Robinson, TX 76706.
