Edward Arthur Mitchell

Edward Arthur Mitchell passed away Monday, August 21, 2023. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Dr. Randall Perry officiating.

Edward was born March 8, 1944, in Waco, Texas, to Walter and Cora Annie Mitchell. Edward graduated from Baylor University in 1967 with a business degree. He worked professionally in Dallas before retiring to Waco. Eddie was also a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Waco.

Eddie had a love for cars and was a member of several car clubs over the years as well as having owned many classics. Eddie was an avid collector of 78 rpm records since childhood and had a passion for jazz and dance band recordings of the 1920s and early 1930s. He was on the board of directors of Early 1900s Music Preservation and a contributor to its online radio station, Radio Dismuke.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Cora A. Mitchell.

Edward is survived by his cousins, Melinda Horner, Mitchell Horner, Mary Catherine Mitchell, Bob Carroll, Sherry Smith; his longtime friends Santiago Pedraza, Grace Gidney, Dave Knight, Trey Concilio and many others.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Waco.
