Edwin Hoeffner Pctpber 2. 1920 January 28, 2011 Edwin Hoeffner of Waco, Texas, passed away Friday, January 28, 2011, at Bentley House Assisted Living in Hewitt, Texas. A brief graveside observance will be held at Cottonwood Cemetery following the funeral service. Edwin was born October 2, 1920, in Clay County, Texas, to William and Wilhelmina Graf Hoeffner. He graduated from Henrietta High School in 1939 and went on to North Texas State Teachers College. There he majored in Industrial Arts, earning a B.S. degree in May, 1943. Edwin and Vondee Webb Hoeffner were married on October 17, 1943, in Grand Prairie, Texas. In November of that year, he entered into service in the U.S. Army. His combat duty was served as a member of the 514th Field Artillery Battalion in France, Belgium, and Germany, and included participation in the Battle of the Bulge. Upon returning from the war, he began a career with the Veterans Administration, moving to Waco in 1964, and retiring after more than thirty years of service in 1975. Thereafter, he worked another twenty years at Firmin Business Forms. Edwin was a long-time member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church in Waco. Almost without exception, he could be seen in Bible study and worship every Sunday morning and evening as long as his health permitted. The principal focus of his life was familyhis wife, his parents, his sister, his children and his grandchildren. The values to which he was committed and the decisions that he made were guided by his love for them. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Vondee Webb Hoeffner, Waco; sister, Edna Lampert of Abilene; three sons, Byron Hoeffner and wife, Janet, of Watauga, TX; Kent Hoeffner and wife, Lisa, of Waco, and Keith Hoeffner and wife, Margie, of Woodway, TX, and eight grandchildren. Pallbearers serving at the funeral are Edwin's three grandsonsSeth, Jacob, and William Hoeffnergreat-nephew, John Lampert, and family friends, Will McKerall and Richard Simcik.
