Edwin L. Slough June 10, 1926 - December 18, 2012 Edwin L. Slough of Waco passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 22, at First United Methodist Church of Waco with the Rev. Stephen Ramsdell officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, December 21, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Edwin was born June 10, 1926, in Gholson, Texas, to Henry and Bertha Slough. Eddie Slough was exemplary when it came to giving service to his community and to others. In the 1950's he served the Waco Junior Chamber of Commerce in several capacities including President. He was a 50+ year member of the Kiwanis Club of Waco and served as its President. He was a founder of the Kiwanis Club of Waco Foundation and was serving as Trustee Emeritus. The Foundation is in the process of outfitting Chuck's Playground for children, which is named for Chuck Slough, past Kiwanis President and Division 23 Lieutenant Governor, who predeceased Eddie. Eddie served the Texas-Oklahoma District of Kiwanis at Lieutenant Governor of Division 23 in 1978-79. Then, after several committee assignments in the District, he was elected Governor-elect in 1989-90 and Governor in 1990-91. He was instrumental in the organization of the Past Lieutenant Governors Association and served as its president in 1984-85. As President of the Texas-Oklahoma Kiwanis Foundation, he was instrumental in leading the attainment of the Foundation goal of having assets in excess of a million dollars. Edwin was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Waco. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Charles Morgan Slough. He is survived by his loving wife, Faye Morgan Slough of Waco; son, John Michael Slough and wife, Tanya; daughter, Carolyn Slough Dominguez and husband, Miguel; granddaughters, Joleigh Slough, Candice Cripe and Jennifer Slough Schlasman; grandsons, Jason Slough, Julian Dominguez and Brandon Slough and wife, Christina; six great grandchildren; and his sister, Mildred Drake and husband, Floyd.
