Eileen Blood Turner

August 10, 1938 — April 4, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eileen B. Turner, 84, of Woodway. She and her husband, W. Richard Turner, resided at Providence Village in Woodway. A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, in the chapel at Providence Village, with Pastor Tim Jarrell officiating.

Eileen was born in Linwood, New Jersey, and graduated from Pleasantville High School of Pleasantville, New Jersey, and the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia. She was a registered nurse specializing in pediatrics. After raising three children, she returned to nursing, working at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware, Sacred Heart Hospital in Chester, Pennsylvania, and Ingleside Care Center in Hockessin, Delaware. She and her husband of 62 years moved to Hewitt fifteen years ago to be closer to their children.

After retiring, Eileen served with the Community Volunteers in Medicine of Chester County, Pennsylvania, and the Spanish Health Ministries of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. Eileen was a lifelong Methodist who took her faith very seriously. She was a volunteer nurse for the Methodist Summer Camp program on the eastern shore of Maryland. She was an expert seamstress who made her own wedding gown and much of her children’s clothing. She also worked on costumes for a local theater group, the Brandywiners. Eileen was a lover of animals and an expert gardener. She was the kindest friend to all who knew her. She brought so much joy to so many for so long. She will be greatly missed!

She is survived by her husband, Richard Turner, of Woodway; daughters, Anne Lornson, of Waco, and Kathy O’Donnell and husband, Joe, of China Spring; and son, Donald Turner, of Greenwood, Missouri. She has a granddaughter, Elizabeth Jones, and six great-grandchildren.
