MEGARITY, ELDON Eldon Jess Thomas Megarity went to be with his heavenly Father Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at the age of 92. The family invites you to celebrate his life at Lakewood Christian Church at 2pm Friday, January 23 with Dr. Jerry Kirkpatrick officiating. His body will be laid to rest at Waco Memorial North. The family will receive visitors from 6-8pm Thursday, January 22 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Mr. Megarity was born in Corsicana, Texas April 11, 1911. He attended Baylor University, where he played football, ran track, and majored in pre-med. He began working for William Cameron Company shortly after school and became president before his retirement in 1976. A resident of Waco for more than 60 years Eldon was a member of Masonic Lodge, a Shriner and a charter member of Lakewood Christian Church where he served many years as a Deacon and Elder. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jess Arthur and Carrie Womack Megarity and grandson, Heath Stenstrom. Eldon is survived by his loving wife, Ernestine, of 66 years, sons, Eldon Dennis Megarity and wife, Dianna of Houston, David Timothy Megarity and Martin Louis Lower both of Waco; daughter, Melissa Megarity Miller and husband, Bill of Houston; daughter-in-law, Sue Carolyn Megarity of Houston; grandchildren, Michael Shannon Megarity and wife, Angie of Ashland, Oregon, Keeley Flynn Megarity and wife, Denise of Houston, Shelby Fletcher Megarity, Ashley Elizabeth Miller, William Clayton Miller, Molly Kathleen Miller, and Morgan Hayley Megarity all of Houston and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Barnes of Corsicana. Pallbearers will be Martin Lower, William Miller, Clayton Miller, Keeley Megarity, Shelby Megarity, and Jim Tom Speer. Honorary pallbearers are Shannon Megarity and Heath Stenstrom, in absentia. Eldon was a loving husband, father, grandfather, Daddy Mac, and wonderful friend to many. The family would like to thank those at Hillcrest Hospice and individual caregivers who took such loving care of him in his final days.
