Hoffman, Eli Eli Hoffman, 79, passed away March 31, 2005 at his residence. Services will be Friday, April 1, at 1:00 PM at Congregation Agudath Jacob with Rabbi Gordon Fuller officiating. Burial will follow at Agudath Jacob Cemetery. Mr. Hoffman was born January 7, 1926 in Waco, Texas. He was a partner with his brothers at the Hoffman Banana Company. He was a Staff Sergeant for the 42nd Engineer Construction Battalion during World War II. After returning from the military, he met Frances Torchin and they were married on November 2, 1947. He was a graduate of Waco High and attended Baylor and Texas A & M. Universities. He was a 50 year member of Herring Masonic Lodge #1224 and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was also a member of Scottish Rite and the Karem Shrine. He was a member of Congregation Agudath Jacob all his life and served as a Gabbi. He is survived by his wife, Frances Hoffman; daughter, Wendy Ramsey and husband Ray; sons, Dr. Terry Hoffman and wife Brenda and Douglas Hoffman and wife Jordana; four grandchildren, Michael, Mathew, Kara and Ashton Hoffman; sisters-in-law, Helen Hoffman and Esther Hoffman; brother, Nathan Hoffman and wife Evelyn. Pallbearers will be Arnold Miller, Jeff Wolf, Craig Hoffman, David Hoffman, Bobby Starnes and Barry Brickman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Naman Lipinsky, Ray Ramsey, Nate Koss, Nathan Brickman, Jake Bauer, Irving Stupak, Justin Rosenfeld and Elliott Walpo. The family would like to express their love and appreciation to Dr. Richard B. Kleiman. Also, the wonderful and helpful nurses of Providence Hospice, Linda Neal and Synthia Thomas for all of their loving care.
