April 20, 1926 — December 21, 2001

ELIZABETH POWER Elizabeth Ann Betty Power, age 75, of Waco, died Friday, December 21, 2001 at a local hospital. Services will be at 10:00AM Thursday, December 27 at St. Louis Catholic Church with Msgr. Mark Deering officiating. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, December 26, 6-8 p.m. at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mrs. Power was born April 20, 1926 in Malden, Massachusetts to Emil and Rose Ann Melee. She moved with her family several times, first to Florida and then settling in Redlands, California in 1938. She married Roy L. Power in Redlands on July 18, 1945, shortly after graduating from high school. The couple moved to Corsicana, Texas several years later and then to Waco in 1952 to work at the James Connally Air Force Base, with their daughter Carolyn. Betty assisted her husband with building new homes in the Waco area. She helped with the house design and all interior finishes. Betty’s interior decorations became very popular and were in high demand from their customers. Betty was a talented artist and enjoyed sharing her talents with others. This led to being a very active member of the Waco Garden Club and a long time helper at the Heart O’ Texas Fair. Betty was also a much loved Cub Scout Den Mother for many years, continuing to be a Den Mother long after her own son moved onto Boy Scouts. She was also one of the best Camp Fire Girls leaders for many years. She was an active member of St. Louis Catholic Church. Betty was very adventurous, enjoying many trips all around the world. She had a special love for the beach and visited often with her husband in their motor home. She enjoyed traveling everywhere, but Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm were her favorites. She was a loving wife and mother who had a kind word for everyone she met. Betty never met a stranger. The greatest joys in life for Betty were her husband, children and seven grandchildren. Spending time with her grandchildren brought her untold hours of joy. She will be greatly missed by those she loved and left behind. Betty is survived by her daughter Carolyn Power Perlstein and husband David, and their three children Seth, Rachel and Aaron of San Francisco, California. She is also survived by her son Michael Power and wife Kristin, and their four children Damian, Michael, Jr., Travis and Krystina of Valley Mills, Texas. Betty has a brother, Paul Melee and wife Betty, living in Sacramento, California. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Roy and their first born son, Rodney Lee Power. Memorial can be made to the American Heart Association, the Boy Scouts of America and the Camp Fire Girls. WILKIRSON-HATCH-BAILEY
