Elizabeth "Betsy" Curry January 9, 1935 - February 8, 2009 Elizabeth "Betsy" Curry of Waco passed away Sunday, February 8, 2009 at Providence Hospital surrounded by her family and friends. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 12, at Austin Avenue United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Mesa and Rev. Tom Robbins officiating. Burial will follow at North Belton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Betsy was born January 9, 1935 in Beaumont, Texas to Louis and Berniece Seale. She attended Kountze High School, Sam Houston State, North Texas State and Baylor University. She was a teacher and librarian in Midway ISD for 36 years and her career covered 41 years as an educator. She was also a longtime member of The Altrusa Club and Beta Sigma Phi. Betsy was a longtime member of Austin Avenue United Methodist Church of Waco, staff member, Sunday School teacher, certified lay-speaker, member and chairman of several church committees. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Bill Curry; aunt, Dorothy White;several cousins and many dear friends. The family wishes to thank Dr. Robert Brown, Dr. Charles Schultz, Dr. Rodney Richey and Dr. Robert J. Long for their tireless efforts, compassion and dedication. Also, special thanks go to Tammy Beckner and Lisa Austin. Memorials may be made to Austin Avenue United Methodist, Waco Methodist Home and Gideons International.
