KEELING, BETTE Elizabeth Bette Burfoot Keeling, PhD, 45, died at her home Monday, August 16, 2004 in Waco, Texas. Services will be at 3:30 P.M. Friday August 20th at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd., Waco with the Rev. Ben Disney officiating. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, August 19 from 6-8 P.M at the funeral home. Private burial services will be held in St. Joe, Arkansas Monday, August 23 under the direction of the Christeson Funeral Home, Harrison, Arkansas. Bette was born January 23, 1959 in Wills Point, Texas, and had lived in Waco for the past 8 years. She was an active member of Central United Methodist Church of Waco. She had 21 years of experience in the Health Care industry, most of which were teaching and management positions. She also was published in several different nursing periodicals throughout her career. Bette received her ADN from Louisiana Tech University, Ruston, Louisiana, with academic distinction in 1983. She also received a BS degree in Nursing from Northeast Louisiana University, Monroe, Louisiana, and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1985. Bette furthered her academic achievements when she earned a Masters of Nursing Administration from University of Texas at Arlington, Arlington, Texas, in 1991; and ultimately a PhD in Nursing Theory and Research from Texas Woman’s University, Denton, Texas, 1999. She will be lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and co-workers. Bette is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Ashby Keeling and son, Robert Walton Keeling, Jr.; parents, Charles and Elizabeth Burfoot of Rusk, Texas; sisters, Susan Sudi Meade of Shreveport, Louisiana and Margaret Aycock of New Orleans La.; and brother, Charles Burfoot Jr, of Dallas, Texas.
