Elizabeth Louise Lavy

Elizabeth Louise Downen Lavy April 21, 1942 February 23, 2008 Elizabeth was born Elizabeth Downen on April 21, 1942. She left this world on February 23, 2008 to be with our Lord, but she will never leave the hearts of those she touched. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 26th at Waco Memorial Park. After attending Texas Women's University in Denton, TX where she met her spouse, she moved to Waco to raise her family. She had two children; Michael C. Lavy and Melanie D. Lavy. Elizabeth ran a family owned insurance company where over the years she met and helped so many people through the process of getting insured and then later helping them adjust their insurance needs as the clients' families grew. She became known as the "go-to" lady in times of family crisis for her clients and as such made many friends along the way. Elizabeth was one of those rare gems that once you met her you were instantly drawn to her warm and caring ways and her uplifting sense of humor. She was a gentle lady with intelligence, common sense, a loving and empathetic heart and a deep love of the Southwest from her younger years in Carlsbad, New Mexico. She was a devoted daughter, a strong and loving Mother and a fearless protector of her friends. She had a love of books rarely seen these days and formed a book club where she would choose the books, read them and then pass them on to others in the group. By doing so, she helped others with a like passion read many books they might not otherwise have been able to read. She will be sorely missed by all who have crossed paths wither during her life. She is survived by her son, Michael Lavy, her daughter-in-law Carla Lavy, her daughter Melanie Lavy, two granddaughters, Jennifer Swiencki and Courtney Rinehart, 5 great-granddaughters, Rupert the cat, Smurf the dog, and three of the dearest friends one could hope to have in their lives, Becca Graham and John and Rita Reagan The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our "Memorial Guestbook" at www.wilkirsonhatchbailey.com.
