Elsie Goldsby

April 28, 1917 — January 12, 2018

Elizabeth “Elsie" Gadd Goldsby passed away Friday, January 12, 2018, at the age of 100, while in hospice care in Abilene, Texas. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 19, at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with The Rev. Wayne Williams officiating. Elsie was born April 28, 1917, in Morrilton, Arkansas, to William and Rosie Isgrig Gadd. She graduated Phi Theta Kappa from Little Rock Senior High School and what is now the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She married the love of her life, Ted Goldsby, Sr., on September 21, 1940, and was blessed to enjoy almost 57 years by his earthly side. Elsie and Ted had one child, Ted "Teddy" Goldsby, Jr., in 1943 and was made a "Mamaw" in 1964. In that year, she retired from her work life with the Federal Civil Service. Elsie was very actively involved at First United Methodist Church while in Waco and loved her Sunday School class dearly. She relocated to Abilene, Texas, in 2006, where she remained until her passing. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Dudgeon Goldsby, Sr.; her only child, Theodore "Teddy" Dudgeon Goldsby, Jr.; and her beloved granddaughter, "#1", Lisa Anne Goldsby Salvato. She is survived by her granddaughter, Angela Goldsby Thornton and husband, Trey, of Abilene; granddaughter, Ginnie Goldsby Powell; grandson, Matthew Goldsby; daughter-in-law, Karin Goldsby, all of Waco; grandson-in-law, Chris Salvato of Johnstown, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews. great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Special mention should be made of Dick and Lois Marie Freeman, Bob and Inge Farris, Mary Anne and Gary Brody, and Bonnie Cowley. She loved and appreciated all of you deeply.
