Elsie Wooten, 90, was called home on February 19, 2018, at Wesley Woods. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 22, at Oakwood Cemetery with her grandson, Bryan Wooten, officiating. Visitation will be at 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 21, Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home in Waco. Elsie was born in Sarepta, Louisiana, on October 16, 1927. She graduated from Sarepta High and attended Louisiana Tech at Ruston and Draughn’s Business School in Shreveport. She moved to Hillsboro with her parents and there met her life mate, Richard Wooten. They were married for 64 years. Elsie was a member of First United Methodist Church of Waco for over 68 years. She was a wonderful homemaker and loved doing things for her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Wooten, Sr.; her parents, Brooks Morton Zeigler, Sr., and Nona May Zeigler; her brother, Brooks Zeigler, Jr.; and her niece, Cate Zeigler. She is survived by her son, Dick Wooten, Jr., of Waco; daughter, Peggy Mathews of Austin; two brothers, William Zeigler and David Zeigler and wife, Chris; three grandsons, Bryan Wooten and wife, Gina, Chad Wooten and wife, Beth, and Jeff Reedy, and five great-grandchildren, Katie, Caleb, Ella Ann, Josiah, and Dylan. The family is indebted to Wesley Woods for the wonderful care and love she has received for the past 7 years. We also thank Providence Hospice for their care and guidance in her last months.
