EWING, ELVA NADINE Elva Nadine Ewing, age 83, a longtime Waco resident, entered into peaceful rest on Friday, February 1, 2002. Services will be 1:30PM Monday, February 4 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with Rev. Ron Durham officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will 6:00-8:00PM Sunday, February 3 at the funeral home. Elva was born on January 26, 1919, in McLennan County of Arlie B. and Dessie McCracken Ewing. She served in the Navy during WWII. She worked for McLennan ASCS for 30 years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church. She was a “people person” and was always ready to help someone. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Wilda Ewing and Lorna Sockwell, brothers, S.G. Ewing and A.M. Ewing. She is survived by sister, Catherine Ewing, brother, A.B. Ewing as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation or American Heart Association. “Even youth grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength, They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:30-31.
