Emil Tyson E. T. Stubbs

STUBBS, E. T. Emil Tyson E. T. Stubbs, 68, passed away Monday October 20, 2003 in a Waco hospital. Services will be held at 10:30am Friday, October 24 at Woodway First United Methodist Church with Dr. Jeff Smith and Dr. Bill Austin officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Family will receive visitors from 6-8pm Thursday, October 23 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd., Waco. Mr. Stubbs was born February 9, 1935 in Hamilton County, Texas to James Clifford and Hilma Enger Stubbs. He was christened and confirmed at St. Olafs Lutheran Church in Cranfills Gap, Texas where he spent his youth, graduating from high school in 1953. Mr. Stubbs served in the United States Army and attended Texas A & M University. He worked in the Waco office of the Texas Farm Bureau for over twenty-one years where he met his future wife. He married Dorothy Feller on October 14, 1960 in Waco. Mr. Stubbs moved to Giddings, Texas in 1980 and served as General Manager for Giddings Petroleum Corporation until his retirement in early 2001, when he returned to the Waco area. Mr. Stubbs was an active member of the Robinson Drive Methodist Church serving on the administrative board. He was later a member of the United Methodist Church in Giddings, again serving on the administrative board. While in Giddings Mr. Stubbs was active in the community serving for three years as a director of the Giddings Chamber of Commerce, with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and as a member of the Noon Lions Club. He also served on the advisory board of the Giddings State School. Upon returning to Waco he became a member of the Woodway First United Methodist Church enjoying the company of other members of the OWLS organization. Mr. Stubbs was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was proceeded in death by his mother, father, stepmother Rachel Bonner Stubbs, brothers Leo Carroll, Gene Felix and John Clinton Stubbs and sister Elnora Estelle Burns. Mr. Stubbs is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dorothy Stubbs of McGregor; sons Jeffrey Scott and wife Danna Stubbs of Headland, Alabama; Barry Glenn and wife Wendy Stubbs of Huntsville, Texas; daughters Terri Deanne and husband Johnny Taylor of Lorena; and Linda Carol Stubbs of Spring, Texas; grandchildren Christopher and Deanna Stubbs, Jessica and Tyson Taylor, and Dylan and Morgan Stubbs. He is also survived by brothers Charles and wife Gloria Stubbs of Livingston, Texas; James and wife Barbara Stubbs of West Columbia, Texas; sisters Betty Haven of Garland, Texas; and Sarah and husband Robert Gohlke of Gatesville, Texas. In addition Mr. Stubbs is survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws, as well as loving friends too numerous to count.
