Emmie D. Schneider, 10 years old, of Waco, entered into the arms of her Savior on Monday, September 18, 2017. A celebration of Emmie’s life will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 23, at First Methodist Church of Waco. A private family interment will follow immediately. Visitation with the family will be 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, September 22, at First Methodist Church of Waco, 4901 Cobbs Drive in Waco. Friends and classmates of Emmie who attend her services are encouraged to wear crazy socks. Emmie was born November 19, 2006, in Waco to Trey and Cathy Schneider. She was beloved by all her family and by countless friends, both young and old, that she considered family as well. She was full of joy and kindness to all, especially younger children and animals. Emmie was known for her love of wearing crazy, mismatched socks, cooking, serving others, swinging, and riding her horses. We will always remember her infectious laughter, her constant silliness, her “Pinocchio moments,” and her deep love and mercy for others. She was always mindful to reach out to others who were hurting. Emmie approached her own life’s challenges with bravery and grace, along with her life verse, Psalm 56:3, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” She was filled with Christ’s light and never hid that from others; she wanted everyone to know His love and saving grace. Her lasting message to all of us is to remember this promise: “I got this – God” Emmie’s memory will be forever cherished by her parents, Trey and Cathy Schneider; her big sister, Allie “Owwie”; little brother, A.J. “Superstar”; grandparents, Keith “Poppo” and Barbara “Nana” Dowell and Don “Opa” and Carol “Gammy” Schneider; Aunt Jenny and Uncle Hugh Payne, Aunt Debbie and Uncle Bruce Murray, and Aunt Jill and Uncle Russell Sherrill; cousins, Haley “Hoo-haw”, Caroline “Care Bear”, Mitchell “Mitcheemoo”, Matthew “Matt Matt”, Keaton “Ki ki”, Luke “Lukee”, and Reid “Reidee-roo”; and all of her family. In celebration of Emmie’s life, at the visitation and celebration service, we will be collecting new pairs of crazy socks to be donated to children in need. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Emmie may be made to First Methodist Church of Waco, P.O. 7736 Waco, TX 76714 or online at fumcwaco.org.
