Erin Madge Baxley

Erin Madge Baxley, 94, of Lorena passed away at St. Catherines Hospital on December 13, 2016. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 18, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque Blvd., Waco, Texas 76710. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, Decemebr 19, at Lorena Cemetery with Rev. Heath Kirkwood officiating. Madge was born October 25, 1922 in Lorena, Texas to William Burton and Edna Regina Maxey of Lorena. She married Jefferson Davis “JD” Baxley on April 15, 1937. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Lorena. She was the switch board operator for the telephone company and took the last call in Lorena before the phone went dial. She also worked in the Lorena school lunch room for 15 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son-in-law Nick Kapellas. She is survived by her daughter Beverly Kapellas; three grandchildren, Cindy Asher, Tammy Wheatley, and Jeff Kapellas; great-grandchildren Nicholas and Daniel Azzopandi, Johnie Asher, Barbie Economou, Jake Kapellas, and Scott Kapellas; great-great grandchildren are Nicholas, Zachary, Grace, Ava, Taylor Azzopardi, and Michelle and Johnny Economou.
