Ernie Louise Samuelson May 16, 1918 - June 11, 2012 Erna "Ernie" Louise Samuelson of Waco passed away Monday, June 11, 2012. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2012 at First Lutheran Church with the Pastor Paul Fiske officiating. Burial will follow at Old Rock Church. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 15, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Ernie was born May 16, 1918, in Bosque County, Texas, to William C. and Mithilda Klostermann Wiese. Whe was baptized into the Christian faith at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Cranfills Gap on November 12, 1922, and was confirmed in that faith there on June 25, 1933. She married Elmo O. Hovend on June 1, 1943. Elmo was killed in Normandy, France, on June 21, 1944. On January 21, 1955, she married Cecil O. Samuelson, the love of her life. He preceded her in death on December 31, 1975. Her faith in God and His mercies were a great support and comfort to her in life. Ernie worked in the garment industry prior to her retirement. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church, Waco, where she participated in Ruth Circle and First Lutheran Church Women, 50+, and various activities, including making lap robes and quilts for Lutheran World Relief. She loved gardening and was always tending her flowers. Ernie was a woman of great love, who always gave freely to everyone. She loved children and found many ways to help children in need. She was an inspiration and a source of great strength to her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmo; her husband, Cecil; four brothers, and eight sisters. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Hillcrest Medical Center and Scott & White Hospice for the loving care given to Ernie during her hospitalization and after her return to Regent Care. We would also like to thank the staff and residents of Regent Care Center who made her feel like part of an extended family from the moment she became a resident.
