Esther Marie Heideke Sterne

Esther Marie Heideke Sterne March 16, 1919 – March 7, 2007 Esther Marie Heideke Sterne, 87, of Houston died Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at a Houston hospital. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 10 at San Geronimo Cemetery in Seguin, Texas with Dr. Joel Boesche officiating. Visitation will precede the service at 10:00 a.m. at Goetz Funeral Home in Seguin. A Memorial Service will be held on her birthday at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 16, at the chapel of her residence, Parkway Place, 1321 Park Bayou Dr., Houston, Texas. Mrs. Sterne was born on March 16, 1919 in Seguin to Fritz and Mary Boecker Heideke. She grew up in Seguin and attended beauty school in San Antonio, Texas where she met a young soldier, Louis Sterne. They married on June 24, 1942. He served in the Pacific during World War II. Esther stayed in Seguin while he was away and operated Esther’s Beauty Shop. After the war they moved to numerous Air Force assignments before settling in Waco. She was a homemaker, school & church volunteer and long-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waco. Following the death of her husband in 2003, she made her home in Beaumont, Texas and in Houston. Esther loved her Lord Jesus, her family and her many friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Edwin Heideke, and one sister, Elsie Reimer. Survivors include one son, Louis Sterne, Jr. and his wife, Kathy of Katy; grandsons, David Sterne and wife, Roxanne of Spring and Jonathan Sterne and wife, Natalie of Pearland; great granddaughters, Madeline, Emma and Sydney Sterne; nephew, Daniel Heideke of Seguin; and niece, Barbara Batey of Seguin.
