Ethel was born November 28, 1926, in Floydada, Texas, to Frank Reznicek and Frances Zaicek Reznicek. The family moved to West during Ethel's early teen years, and she graduated from West High School in 1944. She married William August Kocian on November 17, 1947, and they enjoyed 52 years of marriage until Bill's death in 2000. Ethel spent many years working as a seamstress at J.M. Wood Mfg. Co., and Big J. Apparel, until her retirement. She was a faithful member of St. Louis Catholic Church. A loving wife and mother, Ethel's life was always focused on her family. Her greatest joy in life was undoubtedly her three grandchildren, for whom she happily cooked, baked, and sewed throughout the years. Their time spent with Nanny, as well as her kolaches, Sunday lunches, and after-school snacks, will always be remembered lovingly by Bobby, Cathy and Amy. She enjoyed being involved in their lives, attending activities and providing unending support. Ethel's family was everything to her. Ethel was preceded in death by her husband; her brothers, F.J. and George Reznicek; sisters-in-law, Della Reznicek and Albina Pavelka; brothers-in-law, John Pavelka, Rudolph Bazant and Herman Lander. She is survived by daughter, Kay Sheehy and her husband, Bob, of Waco; grandchildren, Bobby Sheehy and wife, Scotti, of Fort Worth, Cathy Sheehy of Arlington, and Amy Sheehy of Waco; sisters-in-law, Sophie Bazant, Martha Lander, and Lillie Laubert and husband, Ollie, all of West; several nieces and nephews, and many loving friends.
